Catherine J. Jefcoat
Having worked with health systems, payors, and vendors to develop population health strategies, contract portfolios, and care delivery models, Catherine brings experience and guidance to clients who are just beginning their value-based care journey as well as those with robust systems already in place. She has experience deploying technology to make the most of high-value opportunities while also laying the foundation for long-term success and working as a leader at health systems to launch multiple patient-centered programs. Catherine’s clients appreciate her honesty and attention to their specific concerns, both financial and clinical.
Summary of Expertise
Before joining ECG, Catherine worked for the Advisory Board Company managing a team focused on supporting clients’ care management and population health analytics efforts. She oversaw an $8 million contract pool of more than 45 clients and led an ROI documentation campaign that resulted in more than $33 million in ROI recognized by health systems, mainly focused on strategies that resulted in decreased ED usage, inpatient stays, and overall cost reduction for patients with multiple chronic conditions. She also worked directly with ACOs and CINs, taking population healthcare transformation efforts from written goals to concrete implementation. Prior to that, Catherine worked as an independent consultant helping healthcare systems and nonprofit organizations with growth projects. She helped University of Chicago Medicine to create a scalable training curriculum based on behavioral economics for clinical and nonclinical staff to decrease unnecessary ED usage. Catherine also led women’s health services at Howard Brown Health, where she launched care coordination programs for women at risk for breast and cervical cancer, smoking cessation programs, obesity research efforts, and innovative patient engagement strategies. Catherine’s devotion to healthcare stems from her years leading a patient advocacy and support organization for women facing cancer. Patient health continues to drive and animate her work.
Catherine has a master of business administration degree and a master of public health degree from University of Illinois at Chicago, as well as a bachelor of arts degree from DePaul University.
