HAHIMA Board Elections

The mission of HAHIMA is to advance and promote the health information management profession through professional development, recognition and member engagement.

HAHIMA provides leadership to members, influences issues that impact the management and the use of health information, and provides educational programs and other services to advance the professional competency of its members and others who work with health information.

HAHIMA relies on volunteers to help fulfill its mission and carry out activities for its membership.

The following positions are open this election year:

  • President-Elect – 3-year term
  • Vice President – 2-year term

HAHIMA invites active, participating members to run for an open position. Specific criteria for each candidate is evaluated by the Nominating Committee with a final ballot submitted to the Board of HAHIMA for approval.  The ballot is then released to the active membership of HAHIMA to vote.

The President-Elect is responsible for membership programming and moves to President after the President-Elect’s term ends. This position is considered a 3-year term (President-Elect – President – Past- President). Primary responsibilities include overseeing the planning of the Association’s membership meetings. The President-Elect will be an RHIA or RHIT and an active member in good standing with both AHIMA and HAHIMA. The President-Elect candidate will be an active, participating member of HAHIMA.

The Vice President is responsible for public and member relations for the Association. This position is a 2-year term. Primary responsibilities include serving as the liaison for website maintenance with the HAHIMA webmaster. This position serves as Chair of the Public Relations Committee and presides at meetings of the Executive Board and membership business meetings in the absence of the President. The Vice President will be an RHIA or RHIT and an active member in good standing with both AHIMA and HAHIMA. The Vice President candidate will be an active, participating member of HAHIMA.
